Grade 6-7 Online "Virtual Visit" Activity
Tuning in to Wildlife

Radio telemetry is a technique used by wildlife biologists to monitor movements of animals that are difficult to keep track of or see. In this activity, students will play a tracking simulation several times. They will use a "radio telemetry receiver" to find out where an animal is located (it will be located in a different location each time), and mark its location on the map provided. After completing the simulation, they will then look at their map of information, and try to make educated guesses about the animal's habitat preferences and behavior.

This Activity Includes:

  • A ready-to-play virtual activity
  • A ready-to-print & copy map
