Viewing Options for Short Videos

Teachers will have access to pre-recorded videos that can be shared with students either before or after the live electronic field trip. To view these, you'll need to have Adobe Flash Player installed. This is a free plug-in that is available here.

Viewing Options for Live Show

We're all about choices at Purdue zipTrips, so there are two ways for you to view your virtual field trip:

Web Streaming

  • Web browsing software
  • broadband Internet connection

  • excellent picture quality
  • high reliability

Schools choosing this method will utilize Web streaming services from Broadcast Network Services at Purdue University.  Windows Media Player is needed to view the stream.

Video Conference
  • What you'll need:


  • What you'll get:
  • IP videoconferencing unit, such as
  • Polycom, Tandberg, or LifeSize

  • excellent picture quality
  • high reliability

All schools participating through video conferencing must be registered and certified with IHETS at least one week prior to the zipTrips live show. The certification process ensures that the technology will work seamlessly at the time of the zipTrips event.
