Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) began with the vision shared by a group of agricultural students and faculty members at Michigan State University (MSU) and Pennsylvania State University. Their goal was to develop a partnership between minority agriculture and natural resource students and professionals from academic institutions, government, and industry. Their commitment led to the first national MANRRS conference held at MSU in 1986.
MANRRS has grown from a handful of students and professionals from six colleges and universities to hundreds of members representing more than 50 academic institutions, as well as industries, government entities, and foundations.
"We, the members of this society, pledge to support endeavors that will always foster and promote the agricultural sciences and related fields in a positive manner among ethnic minorities … We pledge to work for the inclusion, achievement, and advancement of all people in the agricultural sciences."— MANRRS constitution preamble |
