A Statement for Agriculture Faculty and Staff
Incoming Exchange Advising
Thank you for helping make our Agriculture exchange programs a success. We consistantly get positive feedback from incoming exchange students about the level of service they recieve from all advising staff. Please keep in mind a couple of things when advising incoming students.
  • Incoming exchange students do recieve Purdue credits and grades for the courses in which they enroll and are held to the same academic expectations as other students.
  • The assignment of advisors for incoming exchange students is handled through the Office of Academic Programs.
  • If you are assigned an incoming exchange student as an advisee, please contact him or her as soon as possible to let him or her know who you are and to help with any questions. International students often are coming in "blind" without a concept of US University policies, and need a little more help than an average student.
  • If you have suggestions about courses students should take, please feel free to mention something. Remember, though, the students have often pre-approved courseswith their home institutions, or might want to take a few less-advanced courses to help ease the transition to their new environment.
  • If you ever have any questions or need assistance with an exchange student, don't hesitate to contact Ag. Study Abroad or the Office of Academic Programs.
