Projects in this class are cut on a Thermwood Model 40 CNC router. This 3-axis, turret head router equipped with conventional and universal vacuum, 16 HP, 9 HP, 4 HP and 3 HP (horizontal) routers, 9 HP shaper, vertical and horizontal air drills and a 3D probe was donated by

Thermwood

CAD drawings were generated on Rhino3D or Autocad and toolpaths were produced using Mastercam software.

FNR484, offered through the department of Forestry and Natural Resources, is a project-based introduction to production and design for CNC Routers. 

The course objective is to familiarize students with Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), CNC router operation, rapid prototyping and basics of secondary wood products manufacturing.
