Many landowners are concerned about endangered
and threatened (listed) species. In most cases, the presence of
listed species does directly impact the landowners. Several programs
exist to assist private landowners in their efforts to manage
for listed species. For example, Safe Harbor Agreements allow
private and other non-federal landowners to manage their land
in a way that restores, enhances, or maintains habitat for rare
plants and animals while still meeting other management goals
– all without incurring additional land-use restrictions.
