Landowner Main Page Wildlife Habitat Forests

Forests

Wildlife and the forests in which they live are linked closely together. The abundance of most wildlife populations and associated forested lands have paralleled each other throughout history. Responsible forest management ensures a balance between wildlife populations and their forested habitats.

Workshops/Courses

Purdue Cooperative Extension Service periodically offers workshops and other courses designed to help landowners manage their forest and wildlife resources. The Department of Forestry and Natural Resources Calendar lists the times and locations of these offerings.

Eight-Week Woodlot Owners Short Course

This workshop meets one night per week for eight weeks. This course is designed to prepare woodland owners to better manage their woodlot/forestland to meet their personal management objectives. Topics include tree identification, timber stand improvement, timber marketing, harvesting strategies for sustainable forests, timber taxes, wildlife management, and more.
