Several types of trees live on this slightly drier upland rise. White Oaks (which prefer bright sunlight) dominate the overhead canopy, while Sugar Maples (which tolerate shade) currently control the understory… although they may eventually replace the oaks.

Shagbark Hickory, American Beech and Basswood trees also thrive here. With a wide variety of tree species, this area provides food sources and habitats for an incredible variety of critters.
