Research
My main interests involve wildlife conservation and related fields, specifically gene flow and wildlife corridors. Genetics can serve as a useful tool to determine the health and viability of threatened populations and as a metric to determine movement between populations. I am interested in the effects of wildlife corridors, as well as green bridges and underpasses, in maintaining genetic diversity. Investigation of animal behavior through genetics, such as movement or mating strategies, is also a strong interest for me. I am interested in recent advances in noninvasive field methods of DNA collection (hair snares, feces, etc) for use on different species. Genetic identification of wildlife products for investigation of illegal wildlife trade would be an exciting field of research as well.
