At Purdue University, Trent has served on eleven (11) departmental committees, two (2) committees in the College of Agriculture, and three (3) committees at the University level.  In addition, he has chaired the graduate committees for eight (8) master’s degree students and four (4) doctoral students.  Trent also has served on the graduate committees for one (1) master’s degree student and three (3) doctoral students in the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, as well as one master’s degree student each at South Dakota State University (Brookings, South Dakota) and the University of Waterloo (Waterloo, Ontario)
