Undergraduate Researchers

Morgan Hanbury Morgan is conducting an undergraduate research project examining the role of parasites in amphibian malformations.  She will be clearing and staining numerous larval amphibians, assessing individuals for digenean cysts, and comparing parasite loads with levels of malformations.

Current Undergraduate Research Technicians

Lucas Woody

Lucas is a wildlife major with an interest in herpetology, particularly reptiles.  Lucas has served as a field technician collecting data on the effects of timber harvests on terrestrial salamanders and more recently a research technician working on hellbenders in southern Indiana.

Cody Marks
Cody is a senior in wildlife and spent the last 3 months sampling hellbenders.
Heather Powell
Heather is a junior in wildlife with an interest in herpetology.  She is currently volunteering in the lab to clear/stain normal and malformed salamander larvae as well as quantifying digenean trematode cysts in larval salamanders.

Former Undergraduate Technicians

Marie Hamstra
Marie Hamstra is excited to be holding a salamander egg mass she found while taking data on species found at this pond at the Purdue summer camp in 2006. She is a senior in Wildlife. Marie enjoys the interpretation and outreach side of Wildlife and hopes to become an interpretive naturalist.
Kat Lillie
Kat Lillie is a fifth year senior in Purdue’s Wildlife Program. She is also studying Spanish in the school of Liberal Arts. This past summer she worked with the Hardwood Ecosystem Experiment where she monitored eastern box turtles. Upon graduation in May she hopes to obtain more field experience with herps before eventually persuing an MS degree.
Olga Kildesheva
I'm a senior in Natural Resources. My current interests are very broad and include everything from herpetology and ecotoxicology to climate change mitigation and environmental policy. I hope to attend graduate school after graduation.
Kate Faust
Kate Faust is a senior pursuing a degree in Wildlife with a minor in Psychology. Here she is inspecting a specimen of her favorite fish, the longear sunfish as part of her work creating an inventory of all the fish specimens in Purdue's collection. This work was part of her duties as an undergraduate teaching assistant for Dr. Williams' FNR 242 class. Her future goals include graduating in May and finding a job as a dolphin trainer or zookeeper.
Amy Densborn
Amy is a senior in Wildlife Biology and hopes to continue working with the Student Conservation Association (SCA) after graduation.  Her main focus with this degree is to develop environmental awareness and to expand on conservation and management plans for local communities.
Matt Aghai
I'm a wildlife major with a strong interest in forestry. I hope to further my knowledge in related fields by continuing on to an MS degree after graduating from Purdue in May. Currently, I am a field technician collecting data on the effects of timber harvests on terrestrial salamanders.
Greg Stephens
Greg worked in the herpetology collection from 2005-07, but has since graduated and obtained a position as a herpetology research technician for the IN Dept. of Nat. Resources.
Jason Braunecker

Jason worked for me for several years in all aspects of the vertebrate collection.  He graduated in December 2005 and is now a conservation law enforcement officer in Missouri.

Scott Hecht
