Purdue University and the Department of Forestry have a memorandum of understanding to foster and promote academic exchange between our institutions and the Tropical Agriculture Research and Higher Education Center based in Turrialba, Costa Rica. Students, researchers and faculty members are encouraged to pursue joint projects in natural resource management and forestry. CATIE's explicit goal in training professionals is to protect the environment, fight poverty and produce food and environmental services.

In the forestry department, we are exploring options to form a joint PhD and/or Master's program with CATIE, as other U.S. and European universities have done. See links to the other universities at the bottom of this page: http://www.catie.ac.cr/education/doctorado.htm
