Cottontail Rabbit (Sylvilagus flordianus)

Rabbits cause some damage to soybeans, although the amount is trivial compared to damage by deer and groundhogs. Like rodents, damage from rabbits will leave a clean 45 degree edge on cut stems.

Rabbit damage is strongly concentrated along the edge of fields in a linear rather than semi-circular shape..Most rabbit damage occurs early in soybean plant development (from emergence (VE) through V6), but damage can occur until full seed (R6).
