Awards and Grants
- Nikki VanDerLaan won first place in the MS competition at the Ohio Valley Entomological Association in Cincinnati, Ohio on Friday, October 26, 2012. The presentation was entitled "Host colonization behavior of the peach bark beetle, Phloeotribus liminaris: field-based evidence for an aggregation pheromone".

Micah E. Stevens received 2nd place in the Plant Biotechnology Student Oral Presentation Competition at the 2012 World Congress on In Vitro Biology meeting held in Bellevue, WA. Micah received a certificate and cash award for his presentation titled "Agrobacterium-mediated transformation and regeneration of pumpkin ash (Fraxinus profunda) hypocotyls".

- Nikki VanDerLaan-Hannon won first place in the student competition at the National Entomological Society of America meeting in Reno, Nevada. She competed with 17 other students in the Plant and Insect Ecosystems category. Nikki's talk was entitled, "Conophthorin enhances the efficacy of ethanol-baited lures for trapping the granulate ambrosia better (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae)". (November 2011)

- Jim McKenna was awarded the American Chestnut Foundation's Volunteer Award at the TACF annual meeting in Pittsburgh. Jim received this award in consideration of all that he has done for TACF above and beyond what might be expected as a result of his position with HTIRC. (November 2009)
- The Purdue University Chapter of Sigma Xi, the scientific research society, conducted a poster competition for the 2008 Graduate Students Research Awards.
