Land Trusts are private non-profit organizations chartered to acquire land and conservation easements on lands that provide significant environmental and scenic benefits. For more information on what land trusts do visit the Land Trust Alliance Website. As of December 2002 there are over 25 Land Trusts and Conservancy groups in Indiana. Land Trusts are by-in-large "local" organizations. They focus their land protection efforts in designated geographical areas. The map below shows these service areas.
