    1950s

    Clarence J. Kaiser, BS ’52, Eckerty, Ind., received the Conservation Farmer of the Year Award at the 63rd annual conference of the Indiana Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts. Four Indiana farmers are honored each year.

    Warren K. Huntzinger, BS ’53, owns Foghorn Farms Inc. and lives in Pendleton, Ind.

    George M. Aldred, BS ’56, is retired from Purdue Extension and lives in Shoals, Ind., with Wanda, his wife of 52 years. He is also a retired sergeant major, with 30 years’ service in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve.

    1960s

    John Karp, BS '61, Marietta, Ga., has retired from Georgia-Pacific Corp. after 37 years.

    Dale Herman, MS ’63, PhD ’67, Fargo, N.D., was a horticulture teacher/researcher at South Dakota State University from 1966 to 1971 and has been a professor of horticulture at North Dakota State University since 1971.

    Keith Gilmore, BS ’69, Orleans, Ind., retired from the National Resource Conservation Service after 38 years.

    1970s

    Dan Baugh, BS ’72, Bloomington, Ind., retired Dec. 31 as Purdue Extension educator for ag and natural resources in Monroe County after a 31-year career.

    John M. Thieme, BS ’72, Zionsville, Ind., retired from Syngenta Crop Protection after 31 years of service. He worked in the agricultural, horticultural and structural pest control divisions and held 10 different positions in field development, technical service and sales.

    Steve Nichols, BS ’73, MS ’76, Delphi, Ind., retired Jan. 31 as the Purdue Extension Carroll County ag and natural resources educator after a 30-year career.

    Felicia Cochran, BS ’77, Marine on St. Croix, Minn., is a senior research specialist in pharmacology at 3M Pharmaceuticals in St. Paul, Minn. She functions as the liaison between preclinical and early clinical development for drugs that treat cancer and infectious disease.

    Carolyn (Tzitz) O’Donnell, BS ’78, Santa Cruz, Calif., is a public relations specialist with the California Strawberry Commission in Watsonville, Calif.

    Christie A. Nelson, BS ’79, New Palestine, Ind., returned to the U.S. after serving 15 years in Thailand as an evangelistic deaconess missionary with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

    1980s

    Michele Alfieri, BS ’80, Smethport, Pa., is director of legal affairs and human resources for McKean County, Pa.

    Patty (Reed) Kvachkoff, BS ’81, Crown Point, Ind., and her husband are the parents of eight children. The two oldest, Mary and Michael, will attend Purdue this fall.

    Doug A. McVay, BS ’82, Webster, N.Y., is foreman with the Town of Pittsford Parks Department in upstate New York.

    Andrea McCann, BS ’89, a staff writer at the Linton Daily Citizen in Linton, Ind., received a third-place award in May from the Associated Press. She also received two third-place awards from the Hoosier State Press Association.

    1990s

    Amy (Fuchs) Fultz, BS ’90, and her husband, Brian, moved to Orlando, Fla., in January to start a new business. They have three children: Adam, 8, Ellie, 6, and Lena, 2.

    Julie (Welander) Walker, BS ’93, Broomfield, Colo., married Jeff Walker on Oct. 8. In August she was promoted to technical training and documentation manager for Micro Motion Inc.

    Marshall Beatty, BS ’94, MS ’03, Greensboro, N.C., works in the Syngenta marketing technology group’s spatial technologies division. He recently went to Mexico to train potato growers how to use GPS to map their fields.

    John William (Bill) Richardson, BS ’94, Bargersville, Ind., married Laura Emerson on July 23. He and his wife and father opened Mallow Run Winery in September on the family farm near Bargersville.

    Lisa (Jarrell) Baker, BS ’95, Carmel, Ind., and her husband, Steve, announce the birth of their second son, Ryan Philip, who was born Sept. 15.

    Amy (Cruz) Jost, BS ’95, and her husband, Ben, have moved into their new home in Cincinnati, where she is an ophthalmic technician/research coordinator for the Cincinnati Eye Institute.

    Tech. Sgt. Kevin Cobb, BS ’96, Fowler, Ind., was recently welcomed home from a four-month deployment with the 181st Fighter Wing in support of Operation Enduring Freedom by his wife Meredith (Stallcop) Cobb, BS ’95, and their daughters, Annabelle and Beatrix.

    Carol (Puckett) Dishon, BS ’98, West Lafayette, Ind., married Gunnar Dishon on Oct. 23, 2004, and they welcomed their son, Aidan, on Nov. 16, 2005.

    James Pitman, BS ’98, Emporia, Kan., received a master’s degree in 2003 from Kansas State University and married Laurie Kendig on Aug. 7, 2004. He is small-game coordinator with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.

    Clint B. Arnholt, BS ’99, Columbus, Ind., and his wife, Katie, are the parents of Lillyan Emma Arnholt, who arrived on March 9. Grandparents are Dan (BS ’68) and Susan (AWS ’93) Arnholt.

    Kyle B. Mandeville, BS ’99, Attica, Ind., and his wife, Jill, announce the arrival of their third child, Andrew Kyle, who was born Dec. 8.

    Jennifer (Rushman) Panek, MS ’99, Durham, N.C., and her husband, Eric, announce the birth of their daughter, Isabella, on Nov. 17.

    2000s

    Margaret (Olek) Esler, BS ’00, MS ’03, Noblesville, Ind., completed her law degree at Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis in May. She works for the law firm of Blythe & Ost and for the Noblesville Ledger newspaper.

    Ryan Cummings, BS ’01, South Bend, Ind., married Monica Pontius, a 2001 Purdue North Central graduate, Sept. 10 in Plymouth, Ind.

    Amanda (Moseley) Thomas, BS ’01, Livonia, Mich., and her husband, Jeremy, announce the birth of their son on Dec. 28.

    Katherine (Hoffmann) Mark, BS ’02, Prairie View, Ill., and her husband, Kevin, announce the arrival of their future Boilermaker, Elizabeth Katherine Mark, born July 15.

    Westin Rink, BS ’03, Floyds Knobs, Ind., married Lara Deuser on Nov. 26. He works for Controlled Pharming Ventures in Marengo, Ind.

    Guntram Von Kiparski, PhD ’05, Livermore, Calif., is a research scientist at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory at the University of California.

    Deaths

    Wayne C. Anderson, Monticello, Ind., passed away March 7. He attended Purdue in 1946-47, and, although he did not graduate, he “Hailed Purdue” with the best of them.
