Aloha ag alums

The Purdue Ag Alumni Association is planning an agricultural tour of Hawaii in November 2006. Dean Randy Woodson will lead the tour that will include several sightseeing opportunities, with particular focus on the unique tropical agricultural enterprises of the Hawaiian Islands.

The tour will include tickets to the Purdue football game against the University of Hawaii in Honolulu on Saturday, Nov. 25, as well as the Purdue Alumni Association’s pregame tailgate party.

The tour itinerary is still under development, but plans are to visit three islands: Hawaii (The Big Island), Maui and Oahu. Tour participants will have an opportunity to customize the tour, choosing to visit one, two or all three islands.

“What sets this trip apart from others is that our Purdue Ag Alumni who live in Hawaii are helping us to set up interesting agricultural tours,” says Donya Lester, executive secretary of the Purdue Ag Alumni Association.

“We’ll have receptions with our local alumni on each island so they can meet Dean Woodson and get caught up on campus events. And, our travelers will get an insider’s look at Hawaii and its agriculture. West Lafayette is a long way from the shores of Oahu, but for at least a week during this tour, we’ll be bringing them a lot closer together.”
