College selects 8 distinguished alumni

The College of Agriculture welcomed the latest inductees into its exclusive fraternity with presentation of the Distinguished Agricultural Alumni (DAA) Awards on April 1.

For the first time, the DAA honorees include a second-generation winner. Scott C. Beck, BS ’87, joins his father, Sonny, who was a recipient in 1992,the first year of the awards program.

The DAA Award honors mid-career graduates of Purdue’s College of Agriculture who have made significant contributions to their profession or to society and have a record of outstanding accomplishments. The eight 2005 DAA Award winners bring the number of recipients to 123.

A selection committee comprised of the dean of agriculture, four associate deans, 12 department heads and three unit directors reviews the nominees.
