    The nine recipients of the 2003 Purdue University Distinguished Agricultural Alumni Awards make this the largest class of honorees since nine were inducted in 1996.

    The award honors mid-career graduates of Purdue's College of Agriculture who have made significant contributions to their profession or society and who have a record of outstanding accomplishments.

    Distinguished Agricultural Alumni Award winners are selected from a committee comprised of the dean of agriculture, four associate deans, 12 department heads and three unit directors.

    This year's recipients were honored during a campus ceremony April 25. They are (with their department sponsors listed in parentheses):

    William Carteaux, BS '84, president and chief executive officer of Van Dorn Demag Corp., Strongsville, Ohio. With 550 employees in five locations, and annual sales and marketing activities of $210 million, Van Dorn Demag is a major supplier of molded products for John Deere, Caterpillar, Case-New Holland and others in the agricultural industry.     Burnell C. Fischer, BS '69, MS '71, PhD '74, state forester and director, Division of Forestry, Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Fischer lives in Lafayette, Ind.His department manages 150,000 acres of woodlands in 13 state forests. (Forestry and Natural Resources)

    Albert Lund, MS '74, PhD '78, manager, research and development, Asia-Pacific, DuPont Agriculture and Nutrition, Wilmington, Del. Lund's territory includes 13 countries from Pakistan and India in the west to Japan and New Zealand in the east. (Entomology)
