Reunions planned for Oct. 27 Homecoming
Purdue will continue the tradition of a universitywide Homecoming celebration on Saturday, Oct. 27. Many schools and departments, including Purdue Agriculture, will have displays and tents around the Engineering Mall, and entertainment will be featured on the main stage. The full schedule is at www.purdue.edu/homecoming. Alumni of the College of Agriculture can enjoy a number of other special events and reunions during Homecoming. The College of Agriculture and the Ag Alumni Association reunion tent on Memorial Mall will provide food and fellowship for alumni, and their families and friends, before Purdue’s Homecoming football game against Northwestern University. Alumni of the Departments of Animal Sciences and Forestry and Natural Resources can join their departments in separate tents on Memorial Mall. All tents will have a tailgate brunch. Reservations are required. The buffet lines will be open from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. For reservations, call the ag alumni office at (765) 494-8593, or go to www.agriculture.purdue.edu/agalumni. The tailgate tents will be on Memorial Mall, across from the Ag Administration Building — convenient to parking in the Marsteller Garage and an easy walk to the stadium. If you just want to visit, you’re welcome to stop by without a reservation to look at the departmental displays, visit with faculty and staff, and check out the games and opportunities to win some Purdue prizes, including a football autographed by coach Joe Tiller. All tents and entertainment will close at 11 a.m. to allow plenty of time for fans to make their way to the stadium for the noon kickoff. Alumni committee seeks volunteers The Purdue Ag Alumni Association is seeking recent graduates to volunteer to assess how the association engages young alumni. Co-chairs of the work group are Don Shoemaker, BS ’03, Brownstown, Ind., and Ann Vandermolen, BS ’03, Ankeny, Iowa. Both are members of the association’s board of directors. Most of the group’s work will be conducted electronically or via conference call, but there may be one or two meetings on campus during the year. “This is an exciting new initiative for Purdue ag alumni,” Vandermolen says. “As recent graduates of the College of Agriculture, we have an opportunity to shape alumni programming for the next several years in a way that will have a meaningful impact on our classmates.” For more information, or to volunteer to serve on this work group, contact Donya Lester, the Ag Alumni Association executive secretary, at 765) 494-8593 or lesterd@purdue.edu. |
