1960s
Iwan D. Teare, PhD '63, Cairo, Ga., a retired scholar/scientist
from the North Florida Research and Education Center, University
of Florida, has been honored as an advocate for the arts. The Georgia
Citizens for the Arts recognized him for going above and beyond
the call of duty as a volunteer lobbyist during this year's Georgia
legislative session. And in May, Teare became a member of the Governor's
Council for the Arts, where he will work with the Legislative Caucus.
David Wolf, BS '66, PhD '71, Lancaster, Pa., is president/CEO
of Clean Burn Inc. in Leola, Pa.
John Hillis, BS '68, Anderson, Ind., retired June 1 from
the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service after 33 years
of service.
Larry Wolter, BS '68, Bedford, N.H., has worked for Anheuser
Busch in operations, brewing, and engineering for 30 years. He currently
is area manager for engineering/utilities in the Merrimack, N.H.,
brewery.

1970s
Mike Breeden, BS '76, Celina, Ohio, recently started a new
business, Salamonie Sod, in Portland, Ind. The company specializes
in providing bentgrass sod for golf course greens.
Maurice Smith, MS '77, Tupelo, Miss., received his PhD in
agricultural and Extension education from Mississippi State University
in December. He is the Tennessee Valley Authority's Mississippi
regional manager for economic development.
William Kusey, MS '78, Richwood, Ohio, is the director of
The Scotts Co. Professional Products Group. He manages the sales
force that calls on distributors, greenhouses and nurseries to sell
the Scotts brand of professional horticulture products.
Nancy (Marquart) Spoolstra, BS '79, DVM '82, Gurnee, Ill.,
has retired from veterinary medicine to run a not-for-profit educational
and advocacy organization that she started in 1996. She works with
children who have attachment issues or attachment disorder. Her
organization is the Attachment Disorder Network (www.radzebra.org).
She and her husband have two biological children, Adam, 17, and
Laura, 14, and three adopted children, Tony, 17, Anchulee, 13, and
Hannah, 4. She maintains her vet license, and their immediate household
also contains three dogs, two cats and two horses. They moved from
Kansas to Illinois last summer, but they plan to eventually return
to Kansas.

1980s
Stuart Cagle, BS '83, Indianapolis, received the Certified
Golf Course Superintendent Master Green Keeper Certificate from
the British and International Golf Green Keeper Association. Only
10 individuals worldwide hold the master designation.
Julie Ann (Williams) Walker, BS '83, MS '93, has been promoted
to associate director of human resources information systems at
American General Finance (AGF). She is responsible for AGF's human
resources systems administration and payroll functions.
Sheila (Robins) Campbell, BS '84, married Thomas Campbell
on April 7. They reside in Downers Grove, Ill., where she is an
administrative assistant for circulation with Law Bulletin Publishing
Co.
Thomas M. Everett, BS '85, Brownsburg, Ind., transferred
from Eli Lilly and Co. Tippecanoe Labs to Lilly's Elanco division
in Indianapolis in 1999. He, his wife and two children moved from
Lafayette to Brownsburg at that time.
Scott Mitchell, BS '87, MS '92, Fresno, Calif., and his
wife, Heather Doering Mitchell (yes, she's the daughter of Professor
Otto Doering from the Ag Econ Department), are the parents of a
baby boy (Thomas Dean Mitchell) born May 14. Scott also accepted
a new position and relocated to the Sydney, Australia area in June
(his family joined him in August). He is the managing director and
member of the board of Sumitomo Chemical Australia Pty LTD. He is
responsible for all Sumitomo Chemical agricultural chemicals, environmental
health products, and feed additives in Australia and New Zealand.

1990s
Andrea Kishne, PhD '92, has been studying spatial variation
of carbon in forest soils in Sweden. She and her husband, Laszlo
Kish, son (8) and daughter (7) recently moved back to the United
States from Uppsala, Sweden, and her husband is working at Texas
A&M University.
Mary Anderson, BS '94, San Antonio, Texas, is with McGraw-Hill
Higher Education as a college and university textbook representative.
She married Mark Novak, a Texas A&M University graduate, on June
11, 1996, and they have a 2-year-old son.
Melissa Kasper, BS '97, Casselberry, Fla., is in a new position
at Disney's Animal Kingdom as an animal care specialist at Conservation
Station in the bird department. She participates in daily educational
presentations/shows and in special events. In her spare time, she
is a volunteer therapeutic horseback riding instructor for disabled
children and adults at Freedom Ride Inc. in Longwood, Fla.
James Pitman, BS '98, Marengo, Ind., is working on a master's
degree at Kansas State University. His research focus is endangered
species of the prairie.
