A
group of Purdue students and staff spent spring break in Costa
Rica, building 50 sets of desks and chairs for school children.
The furniture utilizes technology developed at Purdue to create
inexpensive furniture able to withstand Costa Rica's relentless
heat and humidity. The travelers were assistant forestry professor
Rado Gazo; graduate student Henry Quesada (a native of Costa
Rica); volunteer woodworker Bob Leavitt, Eva Hariarova, manager
of Purdue's wood research laboratory; and juniors Ike Slaven
and Ryan Bradford. Below are some pictures they brought back
from the trip. |
