Pinney-Purdue Agricultural Center (PPAC)
At this center located on the Porter-LaPorte County Line, researchers
work on both agronomic and vegetable crops. Their projects include studies
on insect and disease control, variety trials, nitrate soil testing, plant
spacing and planting dates, use of animal waste as fertilizer, and cultivation
of herbs.
Center staff have installed an irrigation system to allow research under
irrigation, which is increasingly important in this part of the state.

"The farm is dedicated to the advancement of agricultural and the enrichment
of country life." These words, inscribed on the marker in front of the
original Pinney homestead, describe the sentiments of William E. Pinney
and his daughter Myra F.P. Clark, who gave the farm to Purdue University
and the people of Indiana in 1919.
