Purdue Agriculture takes a leadership role at home and abroad
|

I have said many times that no matter where I travel in the United States or abroad, I meet someone with a Purdue connection. Now, others are saying this to me.

During a trip to the Middle East last year, Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels crossed paths with Kevin McNamara, a Purdue University agricultural economist who is heading up an international consortium to rebuild agricultural education at Kabul University.
When he returned, the governor called me to let me know that he had met Kevin at the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan. He said he was surprised—and proud—to discover that Purdue was helping to rebuild agricultural education in Afghanistan ("Second chances").
Indiana citizens share this pride when they see Purdue engaged in partnerships to build economic growth and improve the lives of people, whether it's at home in the Hoosier state or on the other side of the world.
