Taking the bait

You won't find worms on the top 10 list of Indiana agricultural products, but one Indiana farm family has turned raising worms into a profitable operation.

The Gary Ambriole family, Roanoke, was honored this spring by Purdue's Department of Agronomy as Indiana Farm Family of the Year. The Ambrioles raise 1,800 acres in grain crops and some 900,000 worms for bait. The Huntington County family converted facilities from their former hog operation to house the worms.
