Progress Report

Afgan faculty members (from left) Obaidullah Akbari, Mohammad Naseri and Nastratullah Akbarzad examine some of the textbooks donated to Kabul University during a visit to Purdue.

Four members of the faculty of Kabul University will share the latest in teaching techniques with their colleagues in Afghanistan after spending a few weeks on the Purdue University campus learning current trends in teaching and computer use in the classroom.

Kabul faculty members returned to Afghanistan with 40 used computers donated by Purdue and more than 165 textbooks, reference materials, syllabi and CD-based educational materials contributed by faculty members from Purdue Agriculture.

The Afghan professors represented agriculture and engineering programs and worked with Purdue faculty in both disciplines. Their visit came after Purdue professors, including agricultural economics professor Kevin McNamara, traveled to Afghanistan in April and December of last year.

Editor’s Note: The Purdue faculty’s initial trip to Afghanistan was featured in the Summer 2002 issue of Agricultures magazine. Read it online at www.agriculture.purdue.edu/agricultures/past/summer2002/.
