Virtual State Fair
By Olivia Maddox

Image: webcamIt wasn't Big Brother watching, just Purdue Agriculture providing a window to the activities of the State Fair. This year, Purdue Agriculture's exhibits in the Our Land Pavilion featured a Web cam. Visitors who logged on to the Purdue State Fair Web site could see people walking through the exhibits, finding their way around the backyard wildlife maze and playing a safe water game.

The Web cam is just one of the ways that Purdue Agriculture incorporated technology into its exhibits. 4-H winners could see their pictures almost immediately, thanks to digital cameras. The photos were projected on a big screen in the exhibit hall through a PowerPoint presentation and put on the Web site. And by using computer touch screens in the consumer and family sciences display, visitors could participate in parenting and financial management surveys.
