Knowledge to Go
By Olivia Maddox

Image: Purdue Extension catalogWhether you like to pick up the phone and speak to a "live" person, surf the Web or prefer a catalog that you can actually hold in your hands, Purdue Extension has just the resource for you -- "Knowledge to Go."

Extension's toll-free number, 1-888-EXT-INFO, received nearly 4,500 calls during the past year as Hoosiers looked for answers to a variety of questions.

During February, the fourth-grade class at Patoka Elementary School in Taswell, Ind., used the toll-free number to research information on several Indiana counties for a class project. The class would call the toll-free number, ask for a particular county and then the call would be transferred to the Extension office there. Students would ask Extension staff questions about such things as government, weather, topography and points of interest.

Purdue Extension's educational materials catalog is a guidebook to a comprehensive listing of publications, videos, CD-ROMs and Web sites on a wide range of topics.
