Academic leader

Purdue Agriculture welcomed home alumnus Dale Whittaker, who has taken over the post of associate dean and director of academic programs. Whittaker replaced Karl Brandt, who returned to a teaching post in the Department of Biochemistry.

Whittaker came to Purdue from Texas A&M University, where he was associate department head and professor of agricultural engineering. Whittaker received his bachelor's degree in agricultural engineering at Texas A&M and earned both his master's and doctoral degrees in agricultural engineering at Purdue.

"Purdue already has a great agriculture program, and I would like to see more students take advantage of what the school has to offer," Whittaker says. "I will also continue to mesh the academic vision of the School of Agriculture with the needs of the state of Indiana. I believe in business and government partnerships that improve school resources and the quality of the learning experience for students."
