When AgComm lays out a document for online publication, AgComm will create a PDF file and post it to the Web.
When authors or departments lay out their own publications,
the originating department is responsible for creating the PDF
file and posting it on the Web.
The originating department also must provide the following
to AgComm:
- The URL link to the publication for listing in an online
catalog.
- A brief description of the publication’s contents
(two or three sentences).
The reason why AgComm won’t post PDF files created by
other authors or departments is simple: it’s quite possible
that AgComm doesn’t have the same fonts, graphics, drivers,
or other technical information used to create the file. Without
this data, the Web document may be technically flawed, resulting
in slow loading times or corrupt files. Therefore, the one who
lays out a publication should be the one who creates and posts
the PDF file.
AgComm staff are communication professionals who are trained
in document design and familiar with current technology, design
trends, and publication guidelines. That’s why we encourage
authors to use AgComm for document layout. |
