Anyone who is not a permanent Purdue employee
must waive ownership rights of the work they produce. This includes
freelancers and student employees. A sample assignment of rights
form appears below.
As creator(s) of the artwork, computer software images or graphics,
or computer software code, described as:__________________________(the
Work) I(we) warrant and represent that I (we) am (are) the creator(s)
of the above Works and do hereby assign unto Purdue University,
West Lafayette, Indiana 47907 (Purdue) my (our) rights, title,
and interest in the Work for any copyrights, trademarks, and
renewals thereof.
I (we) further acknowledge and agree that the Work shall be
considered "Works Made For Hire" and that all ownership
of copyright of the Work shall vest exclusively in Purdue.
As creator, I (we) warrant and represent to Purdue and any
party to which Purdue may grant rights to the Work, that the
Work is the original work, it does not infringe any copyright,
and I (we) have authority to enter into this agreement and make
the grant of rights contained herein. I (we) further warrant
and represent that I (we) know of no copyrighted material owned
by another that is contained in the Work.
