Graphic. Pfendler Hall begins a new era.

Photos by Tom Campbell

The $14 million renovation and addition project for Pfendler Hall (formerly Entomology Hall) will be completed this spring. Classes began in the building on Jan. 12, but it will not be ready for total occupancy until March. The U.S. Forest Service, the Wright Endowment Fund, and other gifts from alumni and friends financed the project.

The building will be the primary home for Purdue's forestry researchand education programs, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Hardwood Tree Improvement and Regeneration Center, and the ag alumni and ag development offices. The renovated space in the 1901 building mainly will be used for offices and classrooms. Laboratory space and a 150-seat auditorium are in the addition, which connects to Whistler Hall.

A dedication ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 17.

These before-and-after photos, taken one year apart in 2002 and 2003 (below), show the second-floor classroom in the northwest corner of Pfendler Hall.
