Connections wins awards
Purdue Agriculture Connections won two awards at the Agricultural Communicators
in Education 2001 convention in Toronto, Canada.
The publication earned a gold award in the newsletter category and
a silver award in the writing category for a story about Fred Phillips
(BS '95). A landscape architecture graduate, Phillips headed a project
to reclaim a portion of the Arizona desert into a recreation area for
native Americans.
Members of the Connections team are Mindy Jasmund, designer, Frank
Koontz, editor, Marian Sipes production assistant, Christy Denault,
contributing editor, and Tom Campbell, managing editor. Steve Tally,
Beth Forbes and Steve Leer contributed stories to the winning entry.
ACE members submitted 440 entries in the 2001 Critique and Awards program.
Organized in 1913, ACE is an international association of communicators
and information technologists in education, government and research.
The National Agricultural Alumni Development Association also honored
Connections with a second-place award in its annual alumni and development
publications competition. Connections has won two firsts and one second
in the last three years of the NAADA competition. The award was presented
at NAADA's national convention at North Carolina State University on
June 24.
