Dean's Message - March 2008

Agriculture sector growing

A well-known TV financial analyst was recently asked where people should invest their money during these uncertain economic times. “Oil” was his first answer, but his second was “agriculture.” It seems that Wall Street has found a good value growing in farm fields.

The need to produce more while protecting our critical natural resources means that we in agriculture need to continue to push the frontiers of technical knowledge on crop and animal production.

As leader of one of the nation's best colleges of agriculture, I see nothing but opportunity in the challenges ahead for this growing sector of the U.S. economy.
