| To make a stem cutting, cut off a shoot
tip 4 to 6 inches in length. • Recut the base of the cutting just below a node. • To slow water loss from the cutting, remove 1/2 to 2/3 of the leaves, starting at the base. If the remaining leaves are large, cut them in half. • Dip the base of the cutting in rooting hormone, then gently tap off any excess powder. • Prepare a planting hole in the damp potting mix with a pencil. Place the cutting in the hole, and firm the potting mix around the stem. No leaves should be touching the potting mix. |
