Exhibit Center
Our Exhibits

The Exhibit Center has been an example of vision in action, deliberately evolving from what was once called the "Sign Shop," into a producer of museum-quality exhibits of various sizes.

Every year, more than 800,000 people visit our exhibit presentations in various locations throughout the Midwest.

We have developed dozens of signature exhibits over the years, including:

Snakes, Rattles and Holes

This 600 square-foot walk-through snake skeleton was developed for the 2004 Indiana State Fair to teach visitors about the snakes of the Midwest. The exhibit used text panels, video, live specimens, artifacts, and interactive elements.

Nano in Your Neighborhood

This exhibit, which debuted at the Indiana State Museum in February 2006, tells the story of emerging nanotechnology through text, photos, nanotech products, video, and interactive elements. Visitors learn how nanotechnology is already affecting them and shaping their future.

EAB: The Green Menace

More than 4.7 billion ash trees in North America are potential targets of this invasive species. First created for the 2005 Indiana State Fair, this exhibit has traveled throughout four states informing visitors about the insect and what they can do to prevent its spread through text panels and interactive elements.

Weather Central

This popular 2005 Indiana State Fair exhibit has traveled throughout the region, showing visitors how weather works and how it's reported. In addition to text panels and video, visitors had a chance to experience what it's like to forecast the weather on camera.

Mission to Mars

Through the use of text panels, video, and a hydroponic (water-based, soil-free) garden, visitors to the 2005 State Fair caught a glimpse of what Purdue Agriculture was doing to make a trip to Mars possible.

Super Bean

This exhibit showcases many of the products made from soybeans and highlights Purdue research on new uses for this versatile resource. Visitors learned through text panels and interactive elements, and saw real products made from one of Indiana's largest crops.

Office of Indiana State Chemist

This flexible, tabletop display was designed and built using raised interchangeable photo panels that allow the user to customize photos and topics for specific audiences. The display was developed in 2005 to be used at many venues throughout the region.

Wood Products from Indiana's Forests

This 768 square foot timber-framed building was developed for the 2005 Indiana State Fair and incorporates text panels, video, and interactive elements. Visitors learned about the present, past, and future of Indiana's forests and wood products industry, and saw many Hoosier-made products, from cabinetry to musical instruments.

Where We've Been

Our primary venue is the Our Land Pavilion at the annual Indiana State Fair, for which we build eight to ten exhibits each year. Two other primary venues are the Farm Progress Show (held every other year in Decatur, Illinois) and the Farm Science Review (an annual event in London, Ohio). We also travel to various farm shows throughout Indiana and the region.

Our exhibits also have traveled to venues such as the Indiana State Museum, Science Central in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Imagination Station in Lafayette, Indiana, and Children's Museum of Illinois in Decatur.
