OSU Extension forage specialists part of drought recovery workshop

Ohio State University Extension forage specialists will be part of a speaker line-up focusing on drought recovery strategies at the Ohio Forage and Grassland Council annual meeting and conference.

The event will take place on Feb. 8, beginning at 8:30 a.m., at Ohio Department of Agriculture in Reynoldsburg. Cost of the conference is $30 for Ohio Forage and Grassland Council members and $40 for nonmembers. Registration is due by Feb. 5.

OSU Extension experts participating in the conference include: Mark Sulc, who will give a presentation on integrating cover crop grazing followed by corn silage; and David Barker, who will share information about using rising plate meters and forage inventory. Additional presenters include: keynote speaker Ray Smith, University of Kentucky state forage specialist; and Bob Hendershot, Ohio Natural Resources Conservation Service state grazing specialist. Producer speakers include: Alan Kozak, dairy grazier; Curt Stivison, beef producer; Mark Scarpitti, goat producer; and John Anderson, sheep producer.
