OSU Extension to hold field crop commercial pesticide conferences
Ohio commercial pesticide applicators with field crops on their license will have several opportunities this winter to earn recertification credits to renew their pesticide license. “The conferences are designed to help applicators receive the state required five hours of training in one day,” said Joanne Kick-Raack, Ohio State University Extension’s Pesticide Safety Education Program director. The Field Crops Conference for Ohio Commercial Pesticide Applicators will be held Dec. 16 in Lima at Ohio State University’s Lima Campus; Jan. 13 in Dayton at the Dayton Convention Center; and March 9 in Columbus at the Columbus Convention Center. The conference in Lima will focus on field crop categories. The conferences in Dayton and Columbus will have field crop categories and will be held along with the general conferences to offer all categories for a commercial pesticide license. “Licensed pesticide applicators need the recertification, or continuing education, training to learn about new alternatives and methods to control pests,” Kick-Raack said. “The topics also focus on responsible use of the products while promoting the health of the public and the environment.” The General Conference for Ohio Commercial Pesticide Applicators, which offers training and information in the turf, ornamental, industrial vegetation and pest control categories, will be held Jan. 13 in Dayton at the Dayton Convention Center; Feb. 17 in Sandusky at the Kalahari Convention Center; March 3 in Akron at the John S. Knight Center; and March 9 in Columbus at the Columbus Convention Center. Registration information is available at the Pesticide Education Program Web site at http://pested.osu.edu or by calling 614-292-4070. Ohio State University Extension and the Ohio Department of Agriculture sponsor the conferences. More OptionsEmail this story to a friend |
