Ag tires and improving productivity focus of workshop

Purdue University is teaming up with Michelin AGNA to host a productivity workshop that will include demonstrations on proper tire inflation pressure, reducing compaction and maximizing performance on Sept. 10 near West Lafayette, Ind.

The workshop will be held at the Purdue Animal Science Research Center, located at 5675 W. 600 N.

The field day will begin with registration at 9 a.m. and Dennis Buckmaster, Purdue professor of Agricultural and Biological Engineering, will give a brief welcome at 9:30 a.m.

Topics to be featured include the importance of tire selection and pressure maintenance, tractor measurements, impact of compaction and root systems, benefit of tire fitment, planting with wide tires and a question and answer session. Bob Rees, a North American product marketing manager for Michelan, and Garry Coogle of Coogle’s Tire Service in Otterbein will speak during the workshop and explain the demonstrations. Also speaking will be Purdue Extension agronomist Tony Vyn.

Attendees will receive a gift bag with literature, a Michelin Ag Advantage coupon, a pressure gauge and more. Lunch will be provided by Coogle Tire Service.
