Pork symposium focuses on responsibility

The first annual Responsible Pork Symposium will discuss issues that impact the industry's future and will be held Feb 5-7 at the Omni Hotel in Indianapolis, Ind.

Individuals involved in the pork food system are encouraged to attend. Topics will range from animal well being to the environment and from human capital to food safety.

A registration form is available online at http://www.responsiblepork.com . Registration costs $295 per person and includes three meals.

The symposium will begin at 6 p.m. Feb 5, with a networking reception and table-top trade show. Many of the topics are presented via panel discussions.

Speakers include Jennifer Garrett, director of nutrition marketing for Kelloggs's; Dallas Hockman, vice president of industry relations for the National Pork Producers Council; Janice Swanson, director of animal welfare at Michigan State University; Don Tyler, independent author and consultant; Jon Scholl, counselor to Administration for Agriculture Policy for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; and Charlie Arnot, chief executive officer for the Center for Food Integrity.
