Norman Borlaug's wheat
varieties changed the face of world food production, fueled the
Green Revolution and earned him the Nobel Peace Prize, the only
time the prize has ever been awarded for food production. He is
one of the best known Americans in the developing world and has
been credited by some scientific leaders with "saving the lives
of more people than any person who ever lived." Borlaug is
now president of the Sasakawa Africa Association and is agriculture
advisor to former President Jimmy Carter. He is dedicated to educating
the world about the value of agricultural technology, including
biotechnology, and the answers it holds for feeding the world.
