Assessing Japanese Beetle Management Tactics in Home Gardens

Overview:
Time Line:
| Prior to research: Complete Pre-survey and send it in to receive assigned control tactic, then obtain materials as needed (insecticides, fertilizer and fungicide). |
| Early Spring: Begin watering, mulch bushes and apply fungicide following protocol. |
| When new growth is six inches long: Apply fertilizer. |
| When first Japanese beetle is seen: (late June early July) Apply control tactic following protocol. |
| When Japanese beetle flight has ended: (late August early September) Stop applying control tactics. |
| Post research: Complete Implementation Survey and send it in. |
| Throughout the duration of the growing season: Apply water and Dead head following the protocol. |

1. Weekly Carbaryl Spray.
2. Weekly Azadirachtin Spray.
3. Hand Removal of Beetles and Blooms.
4. Soil applied Imidacloprid plus Hand Removal of Beetles and Blooms.
5. Soil applied Imidacloprid.
